Man. I'm kicking myself yet again for doin the knowledge a lil too late. After Frey's passing I was embarrassed that my first thoughts of Frey/Henley were "Smugglers" & "Laundry" & not "Witchy" & "Limit"---So I really recommend the Eagles doc on Netflix. It's pretty much the Arc I expected (so much easier to be a soloist than in a group situation in which tension is bound to go down & implode---which really makes me wanna see the @WeAreDeLaSoul process of how they handle issues)---but man I loved this doc. I mean I knew of the songs cause they were ALWAYS there whether we chose to embrace them or not. In supermarket. In pharmacy. In dentist. ---like for me I never said "hey I wanna listen to The Eagles: yet I knew all those songs like the back of my hand. But I never ABSORBED & appreciated their harmony or song structure game (which is on another level) --truthfully that "One Of These Nights" video clip on #MidnightSpecial was a lil too creepy for me in 75 waaaay too psychedelic and abstract for this 4 year old at 1am on tv---and you #MoMetaBlues-ites also get that my love or disdain for your label logo rotating on the turntable also played a part in my reception to you---& I'm sorry (Joni & Linda too)---if you were on #AsylumRecords nah I wasn't having it. To me it looked like a floating prison column floating in the sky for no reason. And it only triggered memories of the "Nights" intro w the weird chorus/flange effect on Felder's guitar---and that bassline---you know how Thriller is supposed to be creepy & scary? Well the "Nights" intro was always the soundtrack for the boogie man when in the house alone in the dark on some Paranormal Activity ish (ghead listen to it, now be a 5 year old remembering seeing that album cover at Sears record department & that vid---see I'm turning all the lights on just writing about it)---point is I'm on a 70s southern cali rock kick. Albeit better late than never. But definitely wiser. Wish I got to see these cats when they were active and here. Fly #Eagles fly.
