"I've never had a dog before, and everyone always has this idea in mind about what an "ideal" dog is - friendly, playful, goofy. And Bambi is all those things, but as a shelter dog, she's also anxious, slow to trust, and sometimes reactive. It's been a challenging two years, going through multiple trainers and training approaches, getting her comfortable around new people and new dogs. But though it's a slow process, it's a hugely rewarding one - while Bambi may not be the "perfect" dog for everyone, she's certainly the perfect dog for me.
