Tech Tip Tuesday: You can't see it well from this image, but after tagging the summit in #patagonia @cedarwright and I were running from a big storm that was headed our way. Common sense would have said, 'keep the camera packed away and focus on the thousand feet of rappelling still left to do'... but [here comes the tip] in my experience the best photographs happen when shit is about to get real. There is no faking the fear of an impending big mountain storm, the cold of a blizzard, or the wetness of a proper rain storm. You can't fake those moments.
So even when your buddies want to run as fast as possible to the warm, dry, safe places... Don't be afraid to keep the camera clicking. You're sure to get some magic if you stay focused and grind it out.

About an hour after this shot was taken we were still descending, and the rain started. Eventually the rain drenched my camera and my lenses stopped working. But the images we captured were worth the sacrifice. #techtiptuesday
