Inspired by #TheFinestHours, in theaters this Friday. Repost via @gregorywoodman Disney asked me to talk about my "finest hour" to help roll out their new movie "The Finest Hours" so I decided to tell the story of how my photography career started: I really wanted the music thing to work out for me. I played in a few bands and spent loads of time in studios and on tours. Music was what I wanted to do with my life. It was what I worked hard at, but I honestly just wasn't good enough. I found myself taking iPhone photos with @jaredwhitney @brandenharvey and @gilganizer and enjoying it so much. Through friendships with great photographers and what seems like being in the right place at the right time, I became a suggested user on Instagram. Here I was with a huge audience on social media with absolutely no photography knowledge or skill whatsoever! So I asked for help. I literally asked @benjhaisch what the hell an aperture was. I asked @cubbygrahm how to edit photos (I actually asked him... 'So how do you edit a photo?) I asked @jaredwhitney to stand on a ladder and act like he was floating for a photo (sooooooo artsy) I asked @joelparker for advise: over and over (and still do) I asked @brandenharvey how make people feel awesome while working with them. I asked @scottborrero advise when I got my first job. I asked @thewuss how to do taxes (and how to surf) I asked @ioegreer to collab with me, and now we are best friends. I asked @jimiyounger not laugh at all my dumb ideas and we are also best friends. I asked @terrywoodman and @shelleywoodman for help seems like everyday of my life. I asked @annamaewoodman to marry me, to give me grace, and to love me. And she does...every hour of every day. So when thinking of my 'finest hour' I couldn't help but think about the people who have made me who I am. If it wasn't for their finest hours I wouldn't be the person I am today. This just lists 12 people and believe me, there are hundreds. It is impossible to do life alone. #TheFinestHours #ad

Disney asked me to talk about my "finest hour" to help roll out their new movie "The Finest Hours" so I decided to tell the story of how my photography career started:

I really wanted the music thing to work out for me.

'So how do you edit a photo?) I asked @jaredwhitney to stand on a ladder and act like he was floating for a photo (sooooooo artsy)

I asked @joelparker for advise: over and over (and still do)

I asked @brandenharvey how make people feel awesome while working with them.

I asked @scottborrero advise when I got my first job.

I asked @thewuss how to do taxes (and how to surf)

I asked @ioegreer to collab with me, and now we are best friends.
