20 years... Today makes 20 years that you've been gone, Mr. Larson. The wound is still fresh for all of us to this day. I need to say thank you to you because this is the only opportunity I'll get for now. You were just like Roger, struggling to find your one blaze of glory. And you did; you gave the world a little musical called Rent, which would go on to become one of the greatest musicals the theatre world has ever seen. Your brilliance is not only what created this show, but also what posthumously won you three Tony awards AND a Pulitzer Prize. A Pulitzer Prize, one of the most prestigious awards someone can win for an outstanding work of art. Jonathan not only did you find your one blaze of glory with Rent, you made history. You casted the most amazing men and women the world has ever seen for these roles. Surely they made you proud every time they stepped onto that stage every night. You left this world MUCH too soon, but you left us with a musical that will be talked about for MANY more years to come. You gave so many of us theatre kids what has become our favorite musical or one of our favorites. You're part of the reason there's a theatre community to begin with. And most importantly, you gave me not just a favorite musical, but one of the major sources of my happiness. This show also reignited my passion for theatre. You should be so immensely proud of your cast for what they've done for Rent and your legacy. They truly brought your show, your vision, your creation, to life every night.
