#TheClash released “#IFoughttheLaw” in the #U.S. on this day in 1979 (it was originally written by #SonnyCurtis of #BuddyHolly’s Crickets and became a hit in 1966). Originally Sid Vicious was going to record the cover as part of his first big comeback, but he died in early 1979. Included on the first eponymous album by the #British #punk band — consisting of #JoeStrummer, #MickJones, #PaulSimonon and Nicky “Topper” Headon — it was hailed as one of the best #rock & roll albums ever made.
