St. Elijah, Iraq’s oldest Christian monastery, now lies in rubble after ISIS militants destroyed it. This combination of two satellite images, taken on March 31, 2011, and Sept. 28, 2014, shows the grounds of the 1,400-year-old temple on the outskirts of Mosul, Iraq, before and after. An analyst who looked at images for the Associated Press estimated that ISIS destroyed it between Aug. 27 and Sept. 28, 2014, months after the group's lightning offensive through northern Iraq. The monastery, also known as Dair Mar Elia, joins an expanding list of holy sites targeted by ISIS.
