Formally trained as an architect, #IrvingHarper studied at Brooklyn College and Cooper Union before beginning his career with Morris B. Sanders. After designing interior displays for the 1939-40 New York World’s Fair, Harper took a position as draftsman for Gilbert Rohde, early champion of American modernism and Herman Miller’s first design director. In 1947 Harper began working with the George Nelson Office where he designed furniture, catalogs, advertisements, and the iconic Herman Miller logo. (Click the profile link to read more)
