Little Carmen, an orangutan orphan at Orangutan Foundation International's (OFI) Orangutan Care Center and Quarantine in Central Indonesian Borneo, plays on the ropes in a playground that leads into a forest of small trees eminently suitable for infant orangutans. Carmen is sweet but active and inquisitive, a trait she shares with many other infants of her species. OFI with the help of OFI Australia and OFI Canada will be taking care of little Carmen until she is ready to go back to the wild sometime in the future. Unfortunately, when the time comes for Carmen to return to the wild,the aggressive advance of palm oil plantations throughout Borneo will make it very hard to find suitable habitat,tropical rain forest, for Carmen's return "home." That is why OFI is in the forefront of the fight to save forests wherever we can in Central Borneo.
