Flashback to having my portrait taken @studioharcourtparis when I was the first guest star in history at the iconic @crazyhorseparis_official cabaret almost ten years ago! Founded in 1934, Harcourt is known for its glamour photography of figures from French cinema and culture, always using 24 x 30 cm prints immediately recognizable for their distinctive style and lighting. This typical Harcourt style consists in a photo taken at close distance to the subject in its best light, generally creating a halo of light and dark, on a gray-to-black background. The attitude of the subject is personal, often wearing a slight smile, but somehow always feels a little staged. Also, the Harcourt logo is featured prominently on every print. I'll post the actual portraits soon, but I thought it's of interest to see the behind the scenes and to note the number of lights used. Precise lighting makes for a photo that needs very little if any retouching. Several @studioharcourtparis portraits appear in my book Your Beauty Mark?
