When Candace Hill became the fastest teenage girl the United States has ever clocked, sprinting 100 meters in 10.98 seconds in June, she was suddenly good enough not only to qualify for @リオ五輪2016, but also to potentially win a medal there. At 16, Candace is the youngest track athlete in the United States to turn professional. "I want to get faster, and it seems time for the next step,” she told @nytimessports. Still, Candace is very much a high school junior, and she has only been running for 4 years. She switches easily between talking about races to lamenting the missing A in her report card. (“Chemistry. ...”) Her breakfast on race days? Froot Loops. Melissa Golden (@eyesplosion) photographed Candace training in Atlanta’s Piedmont Park while on #nytassignment.
