In 1989 Donald Trump paid for this full page ad in the NY Daily News in an attempt to sway the public opinion on the case of 5 black teens accused of raping a jogger in Central Park. Only problem? These kids were innocent. They were wrongly convicted but let out after serving 6-13 years in jail. Taxpayers must pay the 41 million dollar settlement they won from the city. This is the problem with our justice system and the death penalty because you can let the wrongly accused out of jail but you can't bring them back to life, and if we let the state kill even one innocent, that's one too many. Trump is using these same divisive tactics and rhetoric in his presidential bid. He was wrong about the Central Park Five, just as he is wrong in thinking he ever stood a chance to get nominated.
