The Marshall Islands, along with many other vulnerable nations, has long pushed for a cap of 1.5 degrees. This is because at 2 degrees of warming, many nations become uninhabitable. Not only, but scientists, like James Hansen, have called 2C “unacceptable to most of humanity,” an amount of warming that would certainly lead to a full blown humanitarian crisis.
