I met Amy Winehouse at the 90th birthday of Nelson Mandela in London (which would sadly be the last time I'd see Mandela in person). A guy named Mitch came up to me and asked if I'd mind having a few words with his daughter. She came over, got on her knees, kissed my hand, and told me that she knew all the records I did with Dinah Washington in the 1950s all the way to "Queen and Quincy." It was simultaneously such an honor and also so incredibly sad that her last two records were her and Tony Bennett on "Body and Soul" and a cover of Lesley Gore's "It's My Party" on a tribute record to me with a special rap by HER!
