Pope Francis opened the Holy Door of St. Peter's Basilica on December 8, 2015 in Vatican City, Vatican, inaugurating the Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy. Until Nov. 20,2016, Catholics around the world will be able to experience the Jubilee's indulgence and mercy by making a brief pilgrimage to the Holy Door in the Vatican or in any of their other cathedrals around the world designated by the Diocesan Bishop. "It will be necessary to accompany these celebrations with the profession of faith and with prayer for me and for the intentions that I bear in my heart for the good of the Church and of the entire world," the Pope wrote on Sept. 1, 2015.
