Last night from the #OvalOffice, #PresidentBarackObama addressed the threat of the #IslamicState on American soil. The two attackers responsible for last week’s massacre in #SanBernardino “had gone down the dark path of radicalization,” he said. “This was an act of terrorism.” The president promised to intensify airstrikes against militants in Iraq and Syria, but also urged lawmakers to pass additional “gun safety measures” here at home. “Our intelligence and law enforcement agencies — no matter how effective they are — cannot identify every would-be mass shooter,” he said. “What we can do — and must do — is make it harder for them to kill.” Photograph by Win McNamee
