"Billions Served" - a small "taste" of my art opening last night: In this piece -which stands next to a proudly displayed giant cheeseburger - in all its glory, I am again referencing conflicted messaging as well as the lack of true consideration many of us give(myself included) to the sacrifices that go into our inexpensive and instantly gratifying fast food meals. The meat slicer represents the cold industrialization and hidden processing of animals for our mass consumption. The camouflage cow signifies the hidden suffering and sacrifice for us to enjoy our delicious, colorfully wrapped cheeseburgers. Below the painting is an incense filled alter made out of mustard and ketchup bottles to represent the mourning of the loss of these beings and how outside of our own culture, and in certain religions like Hinduism and Jainism the cow is even revered as sacred.
