Because she’s my mom and works so hard on MY important cause, I want to give her a little shout out for something really cool she created.
Back in 2009 when newspapers were downsizing to stay afloat, she was laid off from her Los Angeles Times job of 25 yrs as a staff photographer. In her illustrious, award-winning career, she was honored to have photographed some of the most influential and famous people in all aspects of life, not to mention some of the biggest news and sporting events. She left with her head held high and ready to take on new adventures and challenges and has never looked back.
As some of you may know, I was guided to her home by some unknown force in the universe and showed up in the front of her house about 3 weeks later. I gave her a meaningful Plan B and she also came up with an idea to do a book about a friend of hers, Pau Gasol.
She wanted it to be a one of a kind, "behind the scenes" type of photo book.
She had never made a book before, so she asked a couple of her talented friends, Phuong Nguyen Cotey, the amazing writer and editor, and Howard Shen, the talented art director, to join her.
Then another friend, Kobe Bryant, graciously did the the foreword for her.
After 3 yrs of working on it, it ended up getting many accolades as a creative success.
