SENIOR SUNDAY! Thinking about getting a pet this holiday season? @susiesseniordogs asks that you kindly consider a senior dog, like Missy.

Missy, a 9 year old Golden Retriever and Labrador mix, was surrendered to a high kill shelter in Louisiana by her owner because he couldn't afford to feed her. The shelter manager offered to load the guy up with a trunk full of food and told him he could come by the shelter when he needed more. And they also explained to him a senior dog wasn't likely to get adopted. Missy's owner just shrugged and walked away. Sadly, this is an unfortunate reality for far too many older pets who end up at shelters. They are good dogs with bad luck.

Missy is a fantastic older gal who is good with cats and other dogs. Although, she tends to keep to herself and pretty much just ignores other animals. She much prefers people to pets for companionship! Missy is housetrained and will alert you when she needs to go out. She is not destructive at all and is considered a very low maintenance house guest. At 55 pounds, Missy is a big girl and a little clumsy sometimes, so discernment may be advised around very small children. She is not a licker/kisser which is a plus for many people. She enjoys long naps (and does snore!), massages and punctual mealtimes. If you are searching for a loyal side kick, Missy is your girl! Missy is spayed and fully vetted.
