Happy Thanksgiving all!! As I sat around the table yesterday surrounded by family and food, I was reminded of how much I have to be grateful for.
But it was also bittersweet.
I sat at the large table eating and laughing and talking, remembering that there are people across the world who don't have clean water to drink, who have to hike miles every day to a clean well to bring water back to their families. There are families who watch their children die from disease and malnutrition on a daily basis. There are people who are acquainted with sorrow and grief every moment of every day.

Today is black Friday. Today, Americans wait in line for hours/days to get a half priced 50 inch flat screen TV. What if that kind of passion could be directed toward things that actually matter? What if we spent as much time considering how to help the forgotten and disenfranchised in our world as we spend shopping for more unnecessary things to put in our houses?

I know that sometimes we look at the suffering in the world and we have no idea where to start. How do we make a dent in an problem that seems so completely insurmountable? Well, you start by starting small.
