I held this angel in my arms and sang him a lullaby. He was at complete peace, but there I stood, in the midst of the railroad slums, outside the brothel in which his mother must work to provide so he can survive. -
It is easy to apply judgment; to ask why doesn't she just get a job when you're from a western world where education is the norm and you most likely weren't previously bought and sold as property until you reached the old age of 24 or 25 and, now, no trafficker wants you. But, I ask you to open your mind; I ask you to ask yourself what would you do if your entire life you were taught you are worthless in society and you were never even provided the schooling to make you feel any different?

Sex-trafficking, forced prostitution, enslavement. They start to become one and the same when you measure the level of mental slavery to which a victim is subjected over the span of a lifetime.
So as we work to fight the atrocity that is physical slavery, let us not forget those whose scars remain hidden, tucked away on the inside where the human stuffs them in order to keep going; in order to survive. -
