No one tells it better than Jake himself: "On one of our first NYC dates we went to Shake Shack in Madison Square Park. We were blown away and fell in love with it. It also became our favorite area/park in NYC - we’d often stroll through after a night of bar-hopping or seeing a movie, usually stopping for fries or a shake. 7 years later when I decided to ask Amanda to marry me I had already known where I was going to ask. I had figured that out at least three years ago. We had a great day seeing a Broadway show and just hanging out and we decided on Shake Shack for dinner...because it’s the best. We ate and had shakes (Purple Cow and Creamsicle, always) and she couldn’t stop talking about the first time we went to Shake Shack and Madison Square Park. “Perfect,” I thought to myself. We finished up and started walking through the park. As we walked, I said, “oops, gotta tie my shoe.” I knelt down and had the ring in my hand. “Pfft, what are you gonna do, propose?” she said sarcastically before turning around to find me on one knee. “ACTUALLY YEAH.” Then she freaked out like one often does in that moment and said yes through tears and laughter. It was awesome and it all went perfectly. The next day, on our way home, we had our first lunch as an engaged couple: Shake Shack burgers at Grand Central Terminal. Hell yeah."
