"In September, 1975, I welcomed the O’Jays into the studio with some beer, some pretty good local barbecue and some decent herb. It had been a while since I’d photographed a soul group and I wanted them to feel at home. Yes, it ended up being a most righteous shoot... Although originally from Canton, Ohio, interestingly, the trio was always considered a Philadelphia group. And did they have a sense of style, or what! Two of their biggest hits were “Back Stabbers” (‘The back stabbers. They smile in your face. All the time they want to take your place.’) and “Love Train” (‘People all over the world join hands. Start a love train’). The O’Jays were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2005." as told to @Rolling Stone by photographer @BaronWolman
