@georgehtakei had just turned 5 when he, his parents and his two younger siblings were taken from their Los Angeles home and sent to an internment camp. It wasn’t until he was nearly 9 that they were able to leave the barbed wire and barracks behind. Next month, the 78-year-old actor — best known as Sulu, the @startrek helmsman — will make his Broadway debut in a musical based on his family’s experiences during World War II. “My intention was for this story to be known by all Americans,” @georgehtakei told @ニューヨーク・タイムズ. “Allegiance” debuts on November 8.
