SOUTHAMPTON 2-1 VILLA – FT: Scott Sinclair’s late penalty proved to be too little, too late as Villa bowed out of the #CapitalOneCup. The claret and blues – under the leadership of caretaker boss Kevin MacDonald – made a bright start with Leandro Bacuna and Rudy Gestede going close in the first half. But second-half goals from Maya Yoshida and Graziano Pelle gave the Saints the upper hand. Substitute Jordan Ayew won a penalty with a mazy run in stoppage time but Sinclair’s spotkick proved to be a mere consolation. #AVFC #SaintsFC
