A close friend of mine's post of his close friend. I found myself instantly rendered to my emotional and spiritual knees in gratitude for what I/we have and that there are people on the earth like Jesse who personify courage in such a monumentally inspiring way. Proud doesn't even begin to describe the feeling I experienced yesterday when my brother @jessebillauer clinched the 2015 ISA Adaptive World Surfing Title. When we were groms, Jesse, @brendanhearne and I were the best of friends and the fiercest of competitors. Brendan was always the smoothest, I was probably the most consistent and Jesse was by far the most daring. When Jesse was 16 he suffered a devastating spinal chord injury while surfing Zuma that relegated him to a wheel chair and ended his promising career as a competitive athlete. 20 years and 3 months later Jesse put on the jersey once again and to everybody's excitement - but nobody's surprise - he became the 1st ever Adaptive World Surfing Champion. Congrats @jessebillauer! Thank you for reminding us that hard work and positivity is the ultimate serum for good luck. #worldchampion @liferollsonfoundation ? @markanddaves @hurley @bobhurley
