Earlier in 2015, I had a once in a lifetime chance to visit my family in Egypt. My mother emigrated from Egypt to New York in the 1970’s. I was in Egypt for a whole month and got to visit all the ancient ruins from Luxor to Aswan, to Cairo. It’s one thing to see video or pictures of these ruins. It’s another thing to actually touch the stone and engravings. How the stone texture changes from granite, to sandstone, to limestone. How diverse history is; ruins who commonly have hieroglyphics, Greek, Arabic and French engraving one on top another. That trip will for sure influence my type design work in the future. — @jockinthebox #fontface #day6
