Earlier this year, the city was in a panic. A fierce separatist offensive, backed by Moscow, threatened to overrun Mariupol. But now, with shelling reduced to a distant annoyance for most residents, fewer Russian soldiers in the separatist-controlled areas and Moscow shifting its focus to Syria, a weird kind of normalcy has overtaken the city.
