Jules Rimet was born in the French village of Theuley-les-Lavoncourt #OnThisDay in 1873. He was the 3rd President of FIFA, serving from 1921 to 1954. On Rimet’s initiative, the first FIFA World Cup was held in 1930. In recognition, FIFA named the first trophy after him. He died in 1956, two days after his 83rd birthday.
