I met @betoruizalonso on the Internet. Back in the Flickr days when everyone was shooting a 365 Project - comments were exchanged, and I liked his quirky sense of humor that was obvious in his photos even then. Flash forward to 2011, when this dude all the way from Argentina got accepted into Phoot Camp. We walked up to each other in Marfa, Texas of all places, and did the awkward, "Nice to meet you, should we hug or shake hands or what?" thing that you do with people you've only ever known online.

Last Summer he was the only person I knew living in Berlin once I found out I'd be working here for a couple months. I was thankful to have a familiar face, and even more thankful we got to spend some good quality time together. Now, as I dart back and forth between Los Angeles and Germany, I feel like I get to see him more than some of my friends in my own city.
