#OnThisDay in 1997, @Major League Soccer welcomed its newest club, @シカゴ・ファイアー. The announcement was made on the 126th anniversary of the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, one of the worst US disasters of the 19th century. The new name of the Chicago team was chosen to reflect the importance of the 1871 fire in the city's history. Chicago were instantly successful, winning both the MLS Cup and the US Open Cup in their first season.
