Oh my gosh. So here it is #Being13-- chubby cheeks, brow game STRONG, awkward smile, are my eyes open?whats with the headband string??? -- ah #being13. Not really sure who you are or what the world is all about. I really feel for the younger generation and the tremendous amount of pressure young girls feel today to appear "perfect," basically holding an unrealistic expectation of face, body, social life etc. Everyone, no matter who you are, will never measure up to "perfect" because it doesn't exist. And however close you come to this "perfect" mold should not define how you feel about yourself or what you think others perceive you as. Photoshop, Instagram "highlight reels," and that 1/1000 perfect selfie have altered reality and created an unreachable standard. I think at the end of the day, no matter who you are, everyone struggles with insecurities and we're all in this together as women battling a time that is very much influenced by social media and these socially glorified images that set a standard of perfection. I'm not saying it's bad to post a picture that you think you look good in or take a selfie. I just wish young girls didn't feel sick over comparison and inevitably failing to measure up. So if you're 13 years old and awkward, be 13 and awkward! Same with 14 and 15 and every age. As cliche as it sounds- love the skin you're in. And love one another because we're all going through the same thing.
