I once had a client who was quite old, close to 70 years old in fact. Her name was Maggie and she only came to me because 'her doctor told her she needs to build strength up'. On her first session she was very set in her ways with what she wanted to do. "I don't want to do any of these machines, just this (bicep curl motion) and some light leg workouts". I said "and why do you only want to do that?" And she said .... "Because I'm far too old for all that other stuff". I said okay ..and of course, I respected her wishes, made her feel comfortable and we did the things she asked to do...plus a few others to help improve her functionality for general life. One thing I said was "I want you to walk foward, slowly lay on the ground and then safely get up". She said "I'm not doing that..I won't be able to get up!". I said, "....exactly". She smiled and for a few weeks we practised that with some technique and then progressively moved on to more advanced variations. I know this sounds like a small feat but it's all about improving someone's relative quality of life. 1 year later she came to one of her sessions with a bruised face, a cut arm and a cut leg. I was sitting down at the time on the work computer, looked up and jumped up straight away saying, "OMG WHAT HAPPENED". She said ... "I accidentally fell over. Now, I don't want to train today because I'm sore... But I just came to say something. I hate you for making me do those silly things. But I want to thankyou ... because when I fell over I was able push myself straight back up, and stood up without a struggle. I wouldn't have been able to get up at all a year ago" I gave her my funny "I told you so" cheeky smile and she rolled her eyes and laughed. ? The moral of this story, sometimes we don't always like or understand why we are doing something.... but often, your future self will thank you for the hard work you put in now. If you give, the universe will give back. ❤️ Healthy living is a lifestyle. Think about how happy your body will be in 10,20,30 years !!! www.kaylaitsines.com/guides
