Born on this day in 1903, artist #MarkRothko explored the expressive potential of color to convey emotions. Those viewers who broke down and wept before his paintings, Rothko stated, had "the same religious experience I had when I painted them." Rothko’s painting "Untitled (Violet, Black, Orange, Yellow on White and Red)” from the Guggenheim collection is also available as an archival print at guggenheimstore.org.
