One of the proudest moments of my sporting career was winning the 1500m freestyle at the Sydney 2000 Olympics on this day 15 years ago. I was fortunate enough to race my childhood hero, Kieren Perkins as we finished first and second in Australia's most gold medaled race in Olympic history. When I was 13 years old I made a decision to go to the Olympic Games and win a gold medal. Looking back on that goal, I don't know if I was totally ignorant or naive about what it would take however, I guess I set my compass on a journey filled with many ups and downs and who says dreams can't come true.
