Yesterday I rescued a seagull who was tangled in fishing line. It's beak and wings had been wrapped shut, the line disappeared down its throat, and a hook was embedded in its left leg. After 20 minutes of untangling the line, and with the additional help of caring neighbors, the bird was finally freed. I held it as it took its first sips of water and watched as it drank from a bowl for the next 2 hours. Thank you to the compassionate people who worked together in a solid display of teamwork to rescue this innocent animal. We each played a part in saving a life yesterday and I will never forget this magical moment.
