My mother took this picture of me on my very first trip to New York in 1996. I had never been to a place so big, buzzing with so much energy I could barely sleep. It opened my eyes to the world in a way no other city had. Today we remember those who lost their lives and the families who lost their loved ones in the tragic event that changed us all. New York, I loved you then, I love you now. I'm proud to say I lived there for a time, and even more proud of the resilience this incredible city has shown over the past 14 years, the resilience our whole country has shown. Today, take a moment to acknowledge the past, and feel gratitude for the future we are all lucky enough to be able to look forward to, all thanks to the amazingly brave men and women of our armed services. #NeverForget #911
