And the build-up to the match was just as impressive, with over 6,000 fans turning up on the preceding Wednesday to watch the team’s final preparations ahead of the big kick off.

The Black Cats had begun their campaign with a 3-2 win over Preston North End Football Club and they didn’t disappoint, as Roker Park opened its doors to more than 30,000 supporters who watch Leslie secure a famous win.
