On fire in Indonesia: Once again smog from forest fires is cause for concern as monsoon winds carry the acrid smoke, creating hazardous air quality levels, grounding flights, and darkening skies in neighboring Singapore and Malaysia. Using slash-and-burn methods, vast tracts of forests are cleared for palm oil plantations on Sumatra and Borneo at this time, Indonesia's dry season.
