So this will be my home for the next 3 days a Javanese fishing boat in the Indian Ocean off of Bali and the island of Lombok. The occasion? My bachelor party! We decided to forego the Vegas mind eraser booze bash and rather 8 of my good homies came down here to go on a scuba /surf trip. The boat is smaller than we expected and very rocky and rustic. It bounces and sways like you have to hold on or fall, but we are loving it and no one is complaining. Hossain my tour manager, was the only one to get sea sick but I admit I took Grevil to prevent it before we got going.
It's very slow. Only 7 knots per hour. So it takes us 8-10 hours to get to Lombok instead of less than 90 minutes on the high speed ferry boat.
Most of the guys slept above on the deck above in the open air but I took a cabin (basically a small wooden room with a mattress) below which is very hot and sticky. But it's dark and I wanted to sleep through sunrise and catch up on some jet lag Z's. It's almost like sleeping on the tour bus but you go up and down about 6-8 feet with the big swells, rather than bumping down the road.
