Jamel Shabazz took many iconic photos of the style revolution that was happening on the streets of New York City in the '80s and '90s. He's the photographer behind the photo you see here. The Brooklyn native first picked up a camera at 15 years old, and documented his peers. He's featured in CNN Films' #FreshDressed, which takes a look at how hip-hop grew to have a global impact on the high fashion industry. It airs Thursday, September 3, at 10p ET. "I wanted the world to see something unlike they were seeing before," Shabazz says in the film. "That despite people's condition, they're still able to maintain a great degree of integrity and it's shown by the way people dress and the pride they take in having clean sneakers on."
