Each year, around 700,000 tennis fans travel to Queens to attend the @usopen. To support the swarm of sports spectators, a miniature metropolis pops up in Flushing Meadows every August. The logistics of the annual sporting event are daunting enough without starting from a place of rubble and cranes. This year, as a result of the construction of Ashe Stadium’s new retractable steel roof, the pre-event tensions were understandably elevated. @thekateowen photographed the prep work leading up to the @usopen, which begins on Monday.
