What an incredible truth from MLK that's still every bit as applicable today. Something to think about and hopefully inspire action in those with good hearts that "see something" but don't yet "say something." We can't change our hearts and the world without discomfort in ourselves and our interactions with others. But what is often simply discomfort in conversation for privileged people like myself (white people and particularly heterosexual, white, cis men) reaches far beyond discomfort for those effected by racism and prejudice. It effects their lives in ways that are as severe as life and death and everything from basic human rights to subtle prejudice in day to day life. Because I am afforded the privilege of CHOOSING whether or not I want to engage in these conversations about gender, race and sexuality, I believe that it is my responsibility to do so. Many people do not have this luxury. And it's for that reason that we must educate ourselves, stand up, speak out, and push towards change. Let's use our privilege for more. #WWMLKD #BlackLivesMatter #IntersectionalFeminism
