Egypt on Friday joined a group of three teams with two wins in as many games in this year’s #AfroBasket2015 in Rades, Tunisia. Just like Egypt, Nigeria and Tunisia are 2-0 in the tournament. In the highly anticipated game of the day, the Egyptians held off Cameroon 83-77 to take the lead of Group C. Kamal Khalifa finished with a team-high 15 points, but it was back-up guards Ramy Gunady and Ehab Amin who lifted Egypt to their second win in as many games in the tournament. Gunady scored 12 points, Amin added nine, while Cameroon's Jeremy Nzeulie led all scorers with 19 points. In Friday’s second game, Nigeria improved their record to 2-0 after a comprehensive 98-59 win over AfroBasket debutant Uganda. The Ugandans had a short-lived lead but very soon Chamberlain Oguchi made sure to end their expectations. The Nigerian shooting guard set a tournament-high as he made 8 of his 14 three-point attempts. Oguchi led all scorers with 30 points, while Uganda's Stephen Omwony finished with a team-high 20 points in the losing cause. It was Uganda's second defeat in as many games in the event. They face the Central African Republic (CAF) on Sunday. The game was also marked by an incident involving Nigeria small forward Stan Okoye who broke the backboard in a missed dunk. Eventually, the game resumed after an hour-long period to replace the backboard. In the first game of the day, Mali bounced back from a defeat in their tournament opener to see off Gabon 78-54. In his return with his national team since Waly Coulibaly sparked the Malians with 11 points. In Friday’s last game, Tunisian shooting guard Michael Roll and Salah Mejri sent local fans into frenzy as they got past the Central African Republic (CAF) 68-52. Roll and Mejri led the hosts with 12 points each, while Max Kouguere had a game-best 20 points. CAF resume their AfroBasket 2015 campaign facing Uganda on Sunday.
