Developed independently by Mercedes-AMG, the M133 is a turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine. Newly developed and optimized performance components give the M133 an output of 381 kW/hp and 475 Nm torque. The M133 is based on the M270 engine built by Mercedes-Benz, while the high-performance M156 and M157 engines served as technical role models for its development. The M133 was used first in the Mercedes-AMG A 45; and as the most powerful series production 4-cylinder turbo engine, it takes pole position within its segment.
