The @AVMAvets ,Canadian Veterinary Medical Association,American Association of Feline Practitioners and the American Animal Hospital Association, all say they are against declawing, strongly discourage it, and say it should be a last resort. Why don’t they use their combined resources and wealth for a North American educational campaign that instills a mindset and culture in their veterinarian members and cat owners that only believes in the humane alternatives. These 4 very powerful and influential veterinary associations could end declawing in America and Canada in a heartbeat if they wanted to. Their noble profession is all about healing and yet they perform such a mutilating procedure, mostly for the sake of a piece of furniture. Instead of teaching how to use their lasers for making a profit declawing cats (AVMA convention last month had a workshop that taught this) why don’t they have workshops or seminars at their conventions that teach their veterinarians innovative ways to show that the humane alternatives for scratching issues do work.
These big veterinary organizations know that declawing is going on in the majority of their veterinary hospitals as a first option and as a very lucrative money making procedure.
If these veterinary organizations really cared, they would put their energy and money into action and make a true difference to help end this horrific procedure instead of sitting back and letting most of their vets who declaw, do it as a first option and for the money. Greed over compassion is wrong especially when it comes to such an unnecessary and inhumane thing.
Please ask them to stop being afraid of losing their due paying veterinarian members and do the right thing and end this horrific and disabling thing. #MyPurpose #StopDeclawing #CitytheKitty #cooltohaveclaws
