Miley Cyrus hits out at Taylor Swift’s Bad Blood video:

The ever-outspoken @マイリー・サイラス has taken a swipe at Taylor Swift’s revenge-centric "Bad Blood" video. In an interview with @マリクレール, Cyrus questioned the violence in the video and wondered why her boobs seemed to be more of a big deal. I’m a bad role model because I’m running around with my titties out? I’m not sure how titties are worse than guns," she said.

The star may have used Swift’s video as an example, but her point was a wider one about the double standards that female artists come up against in the music industry and the media. "There is so much sexism, ageism, you name it," said Cyrus. "Kendrick Lamar sings about LSD and he’s cool. I do it and I'm a druggie whore." This claim is a little confusing – the Lucy reference that runs throughout Lamar’s seminal record To Pimp A Butterfly is not necessarily a nod to drugs, but more likely a malevolent force that tempts human beings to do wrong. Still, Cyrus is right – it’s easier for men to glamourise and "get away with" drug use than women.
The "Wrecking Ball" singer also went on to explain why she set up her LGBT charity @happyhippiefdn, an organisation that aims to support homeless youth. "A lot of us are born into some shit, you know what I mean?" says Miley. "Lately, I’ve been talking a lot about my being gender-fluid and gender-neutral. And some people snarl at that. They want to judge me. People need more conventional role models, I guess. But I just don't care to be that person.” – words @thomasgorton
