Today is the 70th anniversary of the atomic bombing of #Hiroshima in #Japan. This woman has a powerful story, documented by CNN's Ivan Watson (@IvanCNN): "87-year old Chisako Takeoka witnessed an atomic bomb, and lived to tell about it. She was 17 when the atomic flash lit up the sky over Hiroshima. Though she was 3 kilometers (almost 2 miles) from ground zero, the shockwave blew her unconscious into a sweet potato field. She witnessed the horrors of a river filled with victims's bodies, her mother's eye blown out of its socket by the blast, the loss of her son 18 days after birth due to radiation poisoning two years after the bomb."
