We’re deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Irving Harper (1916-2015). Harper worked in the offices of both Gilbert Rohde, the designer that brought modernism to Herman Miller, and George Nelson—where he not only designed dozens of iconic furniture pieces, but also advertisements, and our distinctive logo (seen above in its first incarnation, a 1946 ad that was created because no photography of the furniture was available). Irving will be remembered for his wonderful spirit, sharp wit, and incredible creative talent. RIP.
