LARRY CLARK: "I was interested in skateboarders and their culture, because the kids have this incredible freedom, and they’re looked on as outlaws, I mean, everybody hates skateboarders, man. And it was like, it took a 12 year-old kid to figure out the whole city’s a concrete playground. So I was interested in it visually, and in the culture, and then these kids seem like actors to me, they’re out on the street, they’re in confrontations all the time, so they have to act, they gotta have an act. So I started hanging out with them, and I bought myself and my son a skateboard, and we started skating.
